ICEBERG aims to develop strategies to improve resilience against pollution and climate change through innovative community engagement. Researchers will create recommendations for better pollution-control governance, with assistance from the AIR Centre in promoting these policies.
ICEBERG’s field research takes place in western Svalbard, northern Iceland, and southern Greenland, where researchers collect data on pollution and involve local communities in tracking and mitigating its effects. This collaboration includes activities such as pollution tracking using drones and contributing observations via a citizen participation mapping platform. By combining natural and social sciences with Indigenous and local knowledge, ICEBERG seeks to increase resilience and create concrete policy recommendations for better pollution-control governance, ultimately contributing to the EU’s Zero Pollution Ambition and healthier oceans.
