In a significant move to support coastal communities, BioProtect has announced a new grant program offering €100,000 each to five European regions. This initiative aims to provide local and regional authorities with the tools and expertise needed to protect their precious marine environments.
The grants are open to eligible applicants, including local and regional authorities from EU Member States, EU overseas territories, and countries associated with the Horizon Europe Programme. Each application must include participation from a local or regional government body.
Grantees will receive:
- Access to BioProtect’s marine management tools
- Technical assistance and training
- Personalized support from demonstration sites
The goal is to empower regions to balance conservation and economic development through innovative spatial planning, biodiversity protection, and stakeholder engagement.
Successful applicants will join a network of European leaders in marine protection, contributing to broader EU environmental goals.
Interested authorities must apply through the Funding & Tenders portal before the deadline.
Applications can be submitted until 1st January 2025, 23.59 CET.
