BlueMissionAA will participate in the prestigious Mission Ocean & Waters Conference taking place September 23-24 in Nyborg, Denmark.

The conference, part of the official programme of the Danish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, brings together Europe’s leading experts from policy, science, and practice to co-create a comprehensive Roadmap for implementing the EU Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters.”

BlueMissionAA will contribute to the session “Deepening Mission adoption – Achievements of the Mission Ocean so far,” a comprehensive showcase of Mission projects featuring presentations from each Lighthouse area. The session will explore critical questions around knowledge transfer between basins and the mechanisms that can support effective exchange between lighthouse initiatives.

Valerie de Liedekerke from the AIR Centre team and project coordinator will deliver BlueMissionAA’s presentation on “Lighthouse AA: Restoration”, sharing valuable insights to a panel discussion examining what the Lighthouses have achieved, the challenges encountered, and strategies for future improvement.
Recommendations to the European Commission and Regional Authorities will also be presented to help bridge that gap and ensure that EU funding in research and innovation fully supports local ecosystems and adapt to territorial realities.

The conference assembles a distinguished and diverse group of participants, including Mission Board Members, Mission Managers, key Implementation Leads, Mission Project Coordinators, and Lighthouse representatives. The gathering will also welcome Ministers and senior national officials, EU Commissioners, Member State experts, private sector leaders, National Contact points, innovation actors, and representatives from international and multilateral organisations.

This cross-sectoral event is designed to foster dialogue, promote knowledge exchange, and strengthen coordination for positioning the Mission Ocean & Waters across Europe, marking a key milestone in the commitment to ocean restoration.
