BlueMissionAA brings ocean conservation to life through street art

An interactive ocean mural will be unveiled at University College Cork on June 1, as part of the Cork Harbour Festival, created by artist Neto Vettorello who was selected from BlueMissionAA’s recent open call.

The immersive artwork invites visitors to step into vibrant underwater scenes while encouraging them to reflect on ocean protection and restoration. Participants can share their thoughts directly on the mural, adding their voice to the collective call for marine conservation.

Created using eco-friendly materials, the freestanding mural focuses on marine biodiversity, sustainable water management, and the connection between people and aquatic ecosystems. The project is supported by UCC, TidalArtS, and the EMD in my country initiative.

BlueMissionAA’s open call, launched last month with a €6,000 budget, sought European artists to create artwork inspired by ocean restoration and conservation. The completed mural will remain on permanent display at UCC following the festival.
