The All-Atlantic Forum 2025 brought together partners from the All-Atlantic Ocean Research and Innovation Alliance (AAORIA) and Atlantic stakeholders to advance ocean science, innovation, and cooperation. Held between September 22 and 26 in Brussels, the event highlighted AAORIA’s contribution to a sustainable, inclusive economy and supported the implementation of the All-Atlantic Declaration.

Among the participants were representatives from the Mission Ocean and its Lighthouses. Oliver Wilson from the Marine Institute presented on behalf of BlueMissionAA (Atlantic & Arctic Lighthouse), joined by colleagues and partners from the project.
The session focused on the EU Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030,” emphasizing the role of area-based “lighthouses” in driving restoration through living labs and innovation ecosystems. BlueMissionAA was presented as a platform for researchers and innovators, developing frameworks and tools to address gaps in governance and finance. Examples included the Responsible and Sustainable Research Reflection Tool, which supports ecosystem-based, impact-driven approaches.

The presentation highlighted key priorities including sustainable funding mechanisms, data standardization, and the importance of connecting diverse initiatives through cooperation. BlueMissionAA works alongside projects such as  BioProtect, A-AAGORA and Climarest to scale up restoration efforts across the Atlantic region.

Through its participation in the All-Atlantic Forum, BlueMissionAA continues to strengthen partnerships across the Atlantic, supporting the transition from research and innovation to practical implementation of ocean restoration solutions.
